Chick Hide and Seek 12

elleAutumn leaves are falling and cooler weather means more indoor activities in Yuri's land of downy yellow adorableness. A gaggle of cooped up chicks in a small room is also a great set-up for another game of Chick Hide and Seek 12. In order to escape, search out and click on all ten chicks, some of whom are out in plain sight while others have secured themselves behind riddles for you to solve. A lack of changing cursor and the rather flat graphics results in a hunt and peck for one of the hiders, along with minimal directives for figuring out which clues work where, equals a wee bit more challenge than some previous chick games. The merit for this twelfth installment, though, remains in the feel-good spirit and spunky mood of these little cuties. The burst of warmhearted cheerfulness at the end is just infectious enough to make you glad you played.

A Walkthrough of Chick Hide and Seek 12

Spoiler

  1. When you begin, you're facing a table, bookshelves and gramophone.

    2. Spoiler

    • Poke around here a bit to check things out in closer detail. Not much is turned up, though, and both drawers are locked with a code.

  2. Turn right to face the bed.

    3. Spoiler

    • Zoom in on the shelves above the bed and, hiding amongst the stuffed animals, you find CHICK #1.

    • Look under the blankets to get a CANVAS.

      • Examine the canvas and turn it over to find CHICK 2.

    • Click between the pillow and the wall to discover CHICK 3 behind the bed.

  3. Go right. There you see a dais of autumn leaves and an easel.

    4. Spoiler

    • Zoom in on the leaves to find CHICK 4.

    • Put the CANVAS on the easel to attract the attention of an artist and his model...

      • Get CHICK 5 and CHICK 6.

    • Take a look at the painting, too. Note the word on the signature line.

  4. Another right turn takes you to the door view where a sporty chick is busy playing tennis.

    5. Spoiler

    • Zoom in on the panel to the left of the door.

      • It appears something can be typed in here:

        • Spoiler

        Using your keyboard, type in the word on the painting...
        PIYOYO

      • When you enter the correct code word, you can click the red rectangular button to turn off the lights.

  5. Now that you've darkened the room, take a look around:

    • turning left from the door, you'll see a new hint on the wall.

    • Mark down that clue then go back to the switch and turn the lights back on.

  6. Tennis chick's game has been disrupted by the darkness...

    7. Spoiler

    • Click on him to get CHICK 7.

  7. Go right to the table view again. Examine the drawer on the right side of the table.

    8. Spoiler

    • Enter the correct 5-digit code to unlock it:

      • Spoiler

      When the lights were out, the line on the way pointed to the numbers in sequence...

      5 2 8 3 7

    • When the drawer opens get a RECORD and CHICK 8.

  8. Back up and put the RECORD on the gramophone...

    9. Spoiler

    • get a very dazed CHICK 9.

  9. Leave the silent music on the gramophone and turn right to check out the bed again.

    10. Spoiler

    • When the lights went out, someone thought it was time for bed: get CHICK 10 from under the blankets.

  10. At the sound of the whistle, all ten chicks have gathered together somewhere in the room.

    11. Spoiler

    • Turn around to find the chicks standing on the bookshelves. They are trying to give you a clue.

  11. Examine the drawer on the left side of the table:

    • Enter a 3-digit code to unlock it:

      • Spoiler

      Count the number of chicks on each bookshelf...

    • Open the drawer and take the KEY.

  12. Turn around, use the KEY on the door, and escape!

The two hardest to find chicks are in the bed...

One is a bit of a pixel hunt: between the pillow and the wall.

The other...well, he got sleepy when the lights went out!

Funny thing is that I tired using the numbers

5, 3, 2 on the drawer because it was similar to what was on the number wall.

I actually finished the game with less then all of the chicks even though they all show up on the end game screen.

Always cute and fun. Though the left drawer made me wish for the Tomatea "I have no idea how to solve this!" dialogue.

Sorry if word choices in my walkthroughs caused any confusion. At the time of its writing, my main concern was a quick turn-around so someone who might need a bit of help could get it. I agree I should have been more careful when typing it up, but I hope you can forgive a misspelling or two. ;)
