Glad to hear your problem has resolved itself. :) In the future, please remember that providing more information like your browser, version, and OS is the only way we can actually troubleshoot problems. Without more information than "something is broken for me", there's really nothing we can do to nail down what might be wrong, and on what end!
Hey guys. This won't concern most of you, but here's a refresher on things that will get you banned. All of this is covered in our commenting terms.
- Repeated posting of links to hacked and stolen games.
- Repeated posting of links to your site to spam your content.
- Repeated posting of angry, hate-filled rants directed at groups of people you don't agree with.
Hopefully this sheds some light on why three of you were banned today. There are at LEAST three others who are treading close to being banned as well, so take this as a friendly warning to refresh yourself with our community guidelines and terms of use, and ask yourself if that nasty comment aimed at another reader really needs to be posted. I understand tempers can flare online, but deliberately rude and nasty attacks and/or rants about other readers or people with different lifestyles/experiences/pony preferences will NOT be tolerated. For the rest of you, keep on being awesome! (Sorry to be a downer, this just needed to be said.)
Is the site constantly purging negative votes only? For example, on 2 days ago the second comment on this post (https://jayisgames.com/archives/2014/12/the_empty_kingdom.php) has a score of -5 (5 votes) as I remember, and now it's a 1.
And then, there's also a somewhat recent post that I constantly keep watching, which I actually see my positive votes get to keep while negative votes get missing after some time. I retried recasting the negative votes many times, they always get removed after on.
Hello! We don't purge or otherwise remove negative votes at all. To my knowledge we don't even touch them. Comment votes work on a balance: if someone has a -1 vote and someone casts a +1, that comment will move to 0. So if a comment had -5 and several people decided to upvote it, it will move from -5 to -4, -3, etc until it becomes positive.
I'd wondered about this too. Is it possible that users actually can retract (or rather cancel out) their votes if they initially vote against a post but then vote for it, or vice versa? I feel like I've seen CMS comment modules that work this way. Then again, 1(1) to -5(5) would be a surprisingly big swing to be explained by that alone.
Negative votes work, look:
https://jayisgames.com/archives/2014/12/slimeys_quest.php#comment-522570
It's not available on 'support' page but should work on other pages.
Jeff, it's happening again, this time on that comment you've given to me:
https://jayisgames.com/archives/2014/12/slimeys_quest.php#comment-522552
I was watching the votes all day, and it seems that the negative votes are fine only when there's no positive votes. Yesterday it became -3 (5 votes) from -3 (3 votes), which means somebody gave a positive vote, and then all the negative vote got disappeared in the ~6 hours period from now.
Nevermind, I didn't realise it would have moved to the second page so soon. I thought it was closer to "Where is 2015?". When I looked for Detarou in the search I didn't see it and assumed it had been removed. So, new question... why aren't search results in chronological order? It might be a good idea to add an option to filter searches.
Search results simply offer up whatever best matches your search term. Tag results can be filtered by date or rating, so that might be an option for you to use rather than the search bar. For example, https://jayisgames.com/tag/detarou lists them all in order from newest to oldest with the option to resort by rating.
Hmm...I can confirm uncopy2002's report from a month ago that negative comment votes are continuing to disappear. He may be on the right track in speculating that it only happens when there are positive votes as well.
For one example, see "Space on the Case." I and a few others have begun downvoting multiple walkthrough requests from the same person for the same game (because frankly, they're really annoying, especially to some of us who actually do take it upon ourselves to write walkthroughs). As of yesterday, the last of these requests had a -3 rating with 3 votes, but today they're at +1 with 1 vote.
Hi, just today when I tried to get into the website, I would keep getting auto-redirected to a page that only says "CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO CONTINUE TO THE SITE." After a few seconds, it tries to redirect me to something called www.blogpirecontent.com, where my McAfee Site Advisor stops the page from loading and immediately warns me about entering the site.
I tried multiple other links, but jayisgames.com seems to be the only site that tries to redirect me to blogpirecontent.com. It only happens when I try to go to jayisgames.com homepage, so I'm able to visit this support page or the archives as long as I type in the link to those pages directly into the URL. Is anyone else experiencing this? This has never happened to me before, and I'm still not sure if it's the website or a virus affecting only my computer.
When it comes to comment votes, JiG's CMS really does seem convinced that n + 1 = 1, where n is any non-positive integer. I've found that I can work around it to some degree by resubmitting my downvotes via proxy browser after the site gets done deleting them, but that's hardly ideal. It would be so much nicer if their code could simply learn how to count.
I wish my bank used that accounting technique!
But if you're willing, abfdrumz (and anyone else interested), I propose an experiment. I suggest we downvote this comment to -5, and then cast one upvote and see what happens. To make sure things aren't skewed, I'd request that when someone makes the upvote, they post before they do it, so we won't have more than one.
Okay, here's a before-and-after screenshot illustrating the problem, from the comments for Find the Escape-Men Part 139. The first image (from earlier today) shows the count at -4 (7 votes), while the second (from just now) shows it at 2 (2 votes).
Quick tip for anyone who's not interested in seeing certain comments and is using Firefox: the "Comment Snob" extension works fairly well in my experience. For JiG, I've added the following rule:
{
"id": "jayisgames.com",
"label": "jayisgames.com",
"url": "jayisgames.com",
"allCommentsSelector": "#Comment_Panel_1",
"commentContainerSelector": ".comment",
"commentHideSelector": ".inner",
"statusElementTag": "div"
}
You can then set the filtering rules so that all comments that contain certain phrases, usernames etc. are blocked by default, with an option to reveal them by clicking.
Hey everyone. We have discovered a bug where tags published prior to March return broken links, so for the moment using the tags to search games will not work. (The problem being that old tag urls are missing a portion of them. https://jayisgames.com/2014/06/papas_donuteria.php is what the tag links are trying to generate, but the proper link is https://jayisgames.com/archives/2014/06/papas_donuteria.php) However, if you search for the game or developer using the site's search function, you will be able to find what you're looking for. I've alerted the responsible party, and I apologize for the inconvenience.
I recently noticed that tonypa.pri.ee is gone. I really enjoyed Tonypa's games, and would revisit them frequently, even though he hasn't released any new ones in years.
I'm more than a little disappointed to see that his site is gone now. I know I can play many of them here, but I was just wondering if you all happened to have any insight into why he may have removed his site.
Thanks a bunch!
I tried sending an email to the Walkthroughs address, but it came back saying the email address I'd used wasn't valid. Did I mess something up? I removed the "REMOVE" from the address and substituted an "at" sign for the "[at]" (from the address and instructions listed in the posting guidelines, "walkthroughsREMOVE[at]casualgameplay.com" Please tell me what I need to do? Thanks!
Hi Joyful. You should be able to plug the wire into the socket and then mend it with electrical tape. If not, you might have a bug, and you'll need to contact Big Fish Games support where you purchased the game. :) In the future, you might want to post your questions on the page for the specific game, rather than on this support forum, which we try to reserve for site-related issues... someone who can help you with your specific game is more likely to see you comment if it's posted on that review.
Hi, I don't know what the procedure to this is but I want my comment on https://jayisgames.com/review/elements-1.php#comment-527042 deleted because I guess I didn't use the spoiler tag properly and I don't want to spoil anyones game play.
I forgot to add spoiler tags on the comment below! Please correct.

Hi, this is bdr198524 using a Yahoo account identifier URL instead of a Google ID. I have tried to log in with my Google account to no avail due to it not being recognized as a valid endpoint, even when I used my G+ profile URL instead of the Google login. I'm not sure if this is related but I'm posting it for posterity anyway just in case: https://developers.google.com/identity/protocols/OpenID2Migration?hl=en
The long and short of it is that Google dropped support for OpenID 2.0 in favor of OpenID Connect. It might be something else but it's incredibly irritating to know that there is an option that's worked fine in the past that does no longer and that none of the websites that are listed on OpenID that solely exist to provide an OpenID seem to exist anymore.
Hi there! Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, I've been informed that our tech support person is unable to assist with this, so for the time being, it's something we can't support with our current version of software that we use with the site. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience. :( I wish there was something I personally could do, but I'm just a humble word monkey.
Hey, I've been having problems with the 'Upgrades' tag. Whenever I try to go to the second page, it takes me here instead: https://jayisgames.com/review/planet_juicer.php2?tag=upgrades&page=2
It's only this tag giving me this, too. If it helps, I'm using Google Chrome.
If you want to give your "thanks" some oomph, you could consider supporting the site on Patreon:

Hi there! Sorry you're having problems. If you're finding your progress on games is being erased, it might be an issue with your browser, if you've been clearing your history and/or cache, or your browser does it automatically. I haven't had any problems personally with any of our games, so my first step for you would be to make sure your browser isn't set to automatically clear itself somehow.
Your account has been disabled AbstractMatter. :)
Shudog, I'm... actually not sure what's going on with Resort Empire. That game hasn't been touched since it was uploaded several years ago, and we haven't done anything to the site in the past week. I tried reuploading the file and it seems to be glitched. I'll have to fiddle with it to see if I can get it to work. Sorry for the problem, thanks for pointing it out! It's very strange.
This may not be in your control, but it has happened with multiple games now: there's one particular ad (I'm not sure for what, but I think maybe something HP-related?) that never finishes, and totally prevents the game from actually loading. It comes with a "play" button instead of automatically starting. If you don't press play, nothing happens: you just get to stare at this guy's face and a tagline about some company splitting. If you *do* press play, it starts playing a half hour long video. I'm not kidding: 30 effing minutes. And no way to skip it, at least not that I've found. The only way to continue is to hit Ctrl+F5 and pray you get a different ad. Is there anything you can do to remove this ad from the rotation, and maybe hit its creators over the head with a clue-by-four?
Hey all --
Just wanted to add my voice to those having issues with the 6:44 long HP ad. It comes up on every game I've tried so far that's hosted on the JIG page itself, but not those which redirect to the game sites (e.g. "Chocolate Shop Escape" does not do this, but "ColorUID" does). The ad is apparently unskippable, even after you start it rolling and wait a bit, there's no "dismiss" button or little X or anything.
I have never used an ad blocker before, but glitches like this are the sort of thing that tempt me. As it is, I can tell you that what I actually did for ColorUID is, having learned about it from JIG, then found a playable version on another site.
I'm pretty sure this is not either of our preferred solution.
I did let the add play out in a background tab, just to see if it would switch to the game at the end, because I was honestly wondering if you or your ad network had been hacked. It did eventually work.
Hello! Unfortunately, I can't find any e-mail from you. It's possible it was eaten by spam. Sorry about that! As for Kickstarter/funding campaigns, if you look at the dates, you'll actually see that we haven't covered any in quite some time as they don't generate any interest and generally aren't worth the effort to put together as a result. The last one we wrote about was over a year ago, and we covered less than ten previously. :)
Regarding the annoying video ad: Jeff has opted to remove the video ads playing at the start of games to get rid of this problem. Any video ads you see remaining are there on behalf of the developer and beyond our control. This will mean our costs take a hit, but hopefully this makes things easier for our readers/
I've noticed that there are a few comments left by spambots lately. Baron's Gate 2 has the latest example of them, but I know at least one other game got hit with this in the past week. Not only do they never post anything specific to the game, they also always end their posts with links to other sites.
There's a lot of spam and fake profiles on this game's page:
Just a general reminder to everyone that the site's commenting rules, which are displayed prominently above the text box when you're writing, include no link dropping. Spamming links to other sites repeatedly throughout multiple entries violates this rule, and results in your comments being treated as spam. Repeat offenders will be banned. Thanks for your understanding.
This is for Dora. There's no way to comment on the farewell message so I'll leave this here.
It's been over a year since I last commented on JiG. I felt a shift after Jay sold the site and the community here just wasn't the same anymore. So I went back to being a lurker, still coming here every chance I got but staying quiet. That's besides the point.
Though much has changed here over the years one thing remained constant. You Dora. It's weird to think you weren't a part of this place from the start because for me, you became synonymous with JiG. To my mind, Dora is Games. You have a talent for words like no other and reading your reviews was always a joy. I don't know if you blog or if you're a writer but if not I hope you start. Especially now that (sadly) you'll have the time.
Aside from that however, you also had a gift for wrangling all of us. You were always a brilliant and fair mediator. The most recent example being in the comment section on "A Normal Lost Phone". You never made it personal and you never took sides. That is rare on internet forums. JiG was better for having you as a part of it.
So as a fan of JiG and a fan of yours Dora, I just wanted to say thank you. Thanks for all the hard work and energy and spirit you put into this place. It felt like a family once and now it feels like you're the last one left. I hope this doesn't come across as twee but I wish you all the best for whatever you do in the future. JiG has had it's day but not you. Especially considering how many Happy Coins you've found over the years. Something good is bound to be waiting for you.
I don't know you but I'll miss you.
Dandy.
I'm going to leave a farewell message here too. I don't really know how long I've been here. It's been at least since 2005. Considering how many things can change in a decade, it's strange to think that this site has been a constant in my life.
There are poignant, indelible places in my memory for games like Knytt, Iji, and the Grow and Submarine series - games that I would never have known without this site. I can't describe how much fun I had with the grab bag of weekend download, how many happy coins I've got stashed away somewhere, or how many times I've come back to games like Mamono Sweeper and Parameters.
I've been noticing the site updating less frequently lately, and I've been worried. To a degree, this isn't surprising - it's not hard to tell that the casual browser game market is slowing. But for what it's worth, you guys put together the best content, and introduced me to the most unique and memorable games of any website.
I wish you all the best. I'll miss you.
Wow - JiG will be missed! Thank you for this site for so many years. I am sad to see it go dormant, but am grateful for the many years of games it shed light on that I would never have otherwise known about. I will miss the game reviews as they were full of wit and always so well done. Thanks to all who have contributed. We (the people) thank you and will miss you!
For a second, I was thinking this was just a late April Fool joke... *has to sit down for a moment* :/
I can only agree to what Dandy Berlin and Mantus already said (and others probably will)... :(
Feels like JiG has been around forever (I discovered it in 2007, I guess... and I was mostly a silent lurker for all those years like so many and just recently took up the courage to comment now and then :))
Thank you so much for showing us such a vast variety of games, interesting, funny, creepy, difficult, weird, entertaining, whimsical... I've come across so many game jewels on this site :D
While I love JiG as a whole (the team, the site and so many commenters), Dora, I have become a huge fan of your posts especially *fangirl moment, squeeeee! \(^O^)/*
Reading your introduction was often just as entertaining as playing the game itself... I hope, we have a chance to hear from you again. Me, I would definitely read your blog, buy your books or watch your tv show, if there's something like that in the future, just please let us know! :D
Gosh, I can't believe Wednesdays will never be the same again... :(
Farewell everyone, thank you all and just continue being awesome! *bows and waves*
