HTML5 is not new, it first launched back in 2014, but it still feels relatively fresh as some industries have taken a while to fully adopt the technology. Most people go through life never knowing exactly what HTML5 is, or perhaps having a brief understanding of "HyperText Markup Language" which is the coding language a huge number of websites are written in, as well as software and apps.

HTML5 is the latest iteration in a coding language that has been in use since 1993 and was actually first created by Tim Berners-Lee, the man credited with making the internet itself possible. For gamers, HTML5 has been changing a lot of aspects of their game collection, especially in certain niches and types of games.

Mobile games were particularly tough as a result of this, and developers may have had to do a lot more work porting the games to different platforms.

How HTML5 Changed Things
Without becoming too technical, certain elements of the way HTML5 operates opened doors for people to make games.

For instance, the "" element is a core feature for HTML5 game development. It provides a space where developers can draw and animate graphics using JavaScript. The code allows for the creation of complex 2D shapes, images, and animations, making it ideal for creating some simple (but effective) game graphics.

Other elements and features of HTML include the
