Myosotis Chapter 5

Mike Morin's point-and-click puzzle Myosotis games get even stranger with Myosotis Chapter 5, which you shouldn't even bother trying to play unless you've played the others since you'll have no idea what's going on in the story of PI Rick and the mysterious letter that lead him to an even more mysterious box. Now you're dealing with a variety of puzzles, from anagrams to spot-the-difference, and once you've figured out what the object to each level is, just click around to create the solution. Though its as gorgeous and atmospheric as its predecessors, Myosotis Chapter 5's random mish-mash of puzzles don't really feel like they fit the theme or overall plot particularly well, and the ending to the series feels abrupt in an unsatisfying way. Still, the neon-soaked visuals and moody soundtrack makes Myosotis Chapter 5 a treat for the eyes and ears, and if you want a handful of stylish puzzles, it's worth firing up.

You forgot to mention that the two click-through menus are VERY misleading. That is so annoying and frustrating when games deliberately lead you to click on something other than the link that will actually start the game.

For that reason alone, I give this game 1 mushroom and I did not play it through. They already made their $.02 from me by getting me to click the wrong "Play" button twice.

So short! But enjoyable, as always. And challenging, for me at least, due to mostly math which is not my forte. Any numbers whizz should relish this Chapter 5.

Does anyone have a hint for the puzzle shown in the banner? I'm there and I'm nothing but stuck.

Never mind, got it.

Lucky thing I have an anagram solver bookmarked.

If you take out the beginning and ending screens, you'd have no idea this belonged the series. Big disappointment compared to the previous iterations.

I can solve the anagrams, but I don't know how to represent the first one. (Well, I'm just guessing that I'm right about the last three.)

MEATS

STEAM:

I assume it's a combination of sun and water, but what combination?

OF OLD

FLOOD:

I assume it's all water.

DOG HURT

DROUGHT:

I assume it's all sun.

HEXING SUIT

EXTINGUISH:

I assume it's all blank.

barbara,

you got OF OLD and DOG HURT, and are correct about MEATS, which I admit I found through trial and error:

sun, sun, rain

As for HEXING SUIT:

look at the previous patterns of sun & rain as a whole to get this final sequence:

sun, rain, rain

P.S. I love the music in this series! :-)

I'm stuck on the red/blue puzzle. I think I'm on the right track, but I can't get it to work.

From the red/blue and rose/blueberry clues, that
red = 2x the number of letters
blue = 1/2 x the number of letters

But I'm not sure whether I should be focusing on the number of letters in the words, or the actual numbers.

E.g. red 'three'. Is that 3 or 5, which then makes 6 or 10?

Just like the first words, ignore what they actually say...

Also, it might be easier to start with the blue, since there are few options that give a whole number.

Thanks trewerty.

Too bad the empty square was one of the options. If it had only been sun and water, I probably wouldn't have got stuck on the wrong meaning for HEXING SUIT. But then the puzzle wouldn't have been as interesting...

The music is great until gets to the end of the song, and then it starts to be disturbing, repeating the same two low notes over and over.

I hate the scales puzzle. I know I could solve it, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm enjoying a "casual" game and suddenly I'm in 6th grade math, staring at a textbook with story problems about Betsy needing seven dollars to buy a new bicycle so how many brownies does she need to sell? My brain totally shut down.

I had no problem with the scales puzzle, no lateral thinking or anything, just plug in the info. I do have a problem with the same thing as SonicLover (and probably use the same solution!) I love the noir theme of the whole series but the ending just felt a bit deus ex machina.

Something I noticed about the weather puzzle:

The order within a row doesn't matter. For example, two suns and a rain counts the same whether it's SSR, SRS, or RSS.

I ended up cheating on

the anagram puzzle. I'm terrible at anagrams.

That ending...

It didn't feel like an ending at all. A very unsettled and unfinished feeling. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a disappointment. On the one hand, it allows for fan-speculation. On the other... what was with that? Seriously not sure how I feel about this. Oh well.
