OFFS3T is a soothing, visually-pleasing puzzle game from mostwrongking. It brings you a series of images from around the world that have been distorted in some way. Perhaps a view has had square patches cut out and strewn around the screen like so many fallen leaves. Perhaps stripes are out of place, and you'll drag them to bring them into alignment. It could be anything really, and you'll be using your mouse to bring all the elements of the scene back into alignment. When you do the image will glitch stylishly for just a moment before resolving itself into a better view of the gorgeous image you've mended. The game will tell you what the picture is, a nature scene or beautiful natural formation, usually, and from where it was taken.
With the ambient music in the background as you click on shapes to make lovely colorful pictures resolve, the combined experience is very tranquil. It's not an intensely challenging experience, and the rhythmic clicking and mousing away is pleasantly therapeutic. This is ideal for a pleasant coffee break or just a peaceful moment away from everything. The game does record a score at the end, from which clicking on the hint feature removes ten points, but the point here isn't about making the Top Ten of online scorers. OFFS3T is a delightful interlude that reminds us that the pleasures in life are in the experience, rather than in the completion.
I can't play this, which makes me sad. I dunno if it's Chrome or the fact that I'm on a Mac, but it loads up to 99% and just stops. It looks good, too.
I'm using Chrome and it works fine.
Zanoushe, my condolences on being unable to play it. We didn't have a Mac on which to playtest this one, but since it's Flash it ought to work if other games do. Perhaps others could please leave a Comment here if they've gotten it to play on a Mac, or have information as to Zanoushe's difficulty? Thanks!
Works in Chrome on my Mac.
Thanky, Marnen!
Zanoushe, you might try clearing your browser's cache and reloading the page. The game ought to start reloading from zero.
I cannot get past the 3rd level at the start.. I did the puzzle but it wont let me get any further it is not getting that I passed it.
Clearing the cache must have worked, 'cause I can play it now. It's pretty fun, too, so I'm glad.
Congrats, Zanoushe!
iceebear, there's a lot of detail in some of the levels. You may have to search carefully to make sure you didn't miss a piece!
Great game! There was one small thing I did not like in level 15:
If you first place the six tiles that fill the transparent area correctly, then you can no longer grab the seventh tile and you have to restart the level. (I think that in theory, it is possible to trigger the same issue in some of the other levels, such as level 5, but level 15 is particularly prone to this issue.)
Excellent, great looking, relaxed paced game.
Had a minor problem on level 11 (Tuscany, Italy) where I inadvertently correctly placed a tile exactly on top of another unplaced tile and was then unable to move the unplaced background tile. Had to exit & restart the level to fix.
The puzzles the most interesting were where the pieces were fully movable around the picture. That way you really had to assess the photo to see where the pieces might go. I also liked the variety of ways of changing the shape, like the zoom in level. Sadly, there was one level that wasn't a puzzle at all, you just had to go and click on all the pieces. Designer, I would avoid these kinds of levels. That just seemed to make the 'puzzle' feel like an excuse to get some publicity for the photographers. I think showing off photos is fine, but if you're going to pose it as a 'puzzle', make it more fully a puzzle. Thanks.
For some reason every time I try to play this game I get an "Adobe Flash Player Settings" pop up that freezes the game and the Adobe pop up. I'm using Fire Fox, and have tried switching to IE with no luck. Hope someone has a solution because this looks like a game I would enjoy. Thanks!
