Suntrap Room Escape
When you think of strawberries, what comes to mind? Unctuous strawberries and cream, pink frosted cakes, luxurious mounds of red and pink and white, and of course the room escapes of the Japanese designer Strawberry Cafe. Okay, so not necessarily the last one unless you are a complete room escape junkie, which is hopefully why you're here and reading this in the first place. At any rate, the cafe is back and making us hungry all over again with their luscious new escape, Suntrap Room Escape.
Par for the course with Strawberry Cafe, there's no back story involved in this fun little amuse bouche. Suntrap Room Escape is your basic one-room escape, except with two rooms. The scenery is done up in the usual mouth-watering reds, pinks, and whites, with luxurious touches here and there to rescue it from cartoony and elevate the scenery from ordinary to luxe. Navigate the space with the help of arrows at the side of the screens and with judicious clicking on certain other areas for close ups, solve some fun and tricky puzzles, use a few objects, and pretty soon you'll be on your way out, albeit probably craving something involving Fragaria x Ananassa.
Although Strawberry Cafe games are always fun and easy on the eyes they're not terribly difficult and Suntrap Room Escape is no exception. There are, however, a few tougher than usual puzzles and surprisingly enough nothing color-based. Instead you're looking at math, logic, and use of found objects to help solve your way out of this delightful space. There's no music to accompany along your way, simply chimes and clicks to let you know when you've found an item of importance or unlocked something. The control structure is pretty basic but includes both a save button and easy inventory control with the use of an "about item" button. There's no changing cursor, though, so some pixel hunting may plague an otherwise charming experience.
Suntrap Room Escape is in Japanese, but there is so little text that it doesn't really matter; pure logic is the key to escaping this comfortably furnished room. Take time to explore and don't forget to examine everything that you pick up as it may not be exactly what it seems on the surface. Not difficult but fun and occasionally challenging, Suntrap Room Escape is the perfect mid-week break, a light and airy confection as delicious as its designer's name implies. Dive in and enjoy the experience, even if it will leave you hungry for something, anything strawberry flavored.

Suntrap Room Escape Walkthrough
General Information
Remember to examine every object you pick up, they may be hiding something.
When in doubt, look very closely at your surroundings.
Sometimes you will have to combine more than one clue to reach an answer.
Good luck!
Exploration (Main Room)
You begin facing a pink sofa. There's an odd table with three cubbyholes on the left of the sofa. There are another three cubbyholes in the wall behind the sofa.
Click on the patterned rug underneath the sofa for a close up.
Way in the back you will see a donut, take it.
Also make a note of the rug's patterns. Back up.
Click on the odd red table to the left of the sofa for a close up.
Take a close look at the two animal heads in the bottom cubbies. The left one is stationary, the right one will lift up when you click it, revealing the number 6.
In the top cubby is a box, click on it for a close up.
Looks like a four digit code using symbols. Back up twice.
Click on the back wall for a close up.
Click on the middle cubbyhole to take the tin of coffee.
Click on the left cubbyhole for a close up of the lamp. Looks like we need a trusty screwdriver!
Back up and turn right.
You are now facing a locked door. This is the door out of the room.
To the right of the door is a small shelving unit on the wall, click on it for a close up.
In the middle cubby is another donut, take it.
Hmmm, there are cookies in some of the cubbies, and each cubby has a different amount. That might be helpful.
Back up.
Click on the safe below the shelving unit for a close up.
Looks like we need four circular objects. Maybe donuts? But we only have two for now, so back up.
Click on the plant to the left of the door for a close up.
There's something dark in the plant, take it (pen).
Back up and turn right.
There's another odd table here, this one with drawers and cabinet doors. Click on the table for a close up.
A little investigation will reveal the following: the left cabinet door needs a key, the right cabinet door needs a four digit number code.
The top drawer has eight buttons on it, obviously some sort of sequence code.
The bottom drawer is unlocked and empty.
Atop the table is a weird tableau, what looks like an Olympic medal platform with three animal heads. Do those heads look familiar?
Back up.
There is an alcove in the wall, but we can't seem to click on anything in it. Maybe it's too high up?
Turn right.
Now we're facing another door. Click on the door twice for a close up and you will see a luxurious bathroom. Back up.
There is a shelving unit to the left of the door, click on it for a close up three times and you will see a small gray area where something can be plugged in. Back up.
To the right of the door are two alcoves in the wall. Click on the upper alcove.
Here's a third animal head, this one red, with the number 2 beneath it. Back up.
Click on the lower alcove and you will see two rows of letters. The top row reads IDEA and the bottom row is GRUT. Back up.
Just to the right of the door is a panel on the wall, click on it for a close up.
More buttons, maybe another sequence puzzle. Back up and turn right.
You should now be facing the pink sofa where you began. Time to solve some puzzles!
The Four Symbol Box
Click on the red table to the left of the sofa for a close up.
Look closely at those two animal heads, especially the eyes.
Click on the top cubby for a close up of the box.
Click on one of the buttons and watch the symbols change. Do some of them look familiar?
The code for the box are the eyes of the animal heads. The code would be O O > < just like their eyes.
Once you enter the proper code you should hear a click. Click on the top of the box to open it and take the key.
Back up twice.
The Pink Table Cabinets and Drawers
Turn left (or right) twice to face that odd pink table with the cabinets and drawers.
Click on the table for a close up and use the key on the left door to unlock it.
Click on the unlocked door to open it and take the donut and the template.
Now let's concentrate on the upper drawer, the one with eight buttons.
Have we seen anything in the room that resembles that pattern?
How about those two words in the alcove by the door? IDEA and GRUT?
Maybe there's a second part to the clue?
Perhaps we should examine some of our inventory items. Pull up the coffee tin from your inventory.
Once it is in close up, click on the lid to open it and take the note from inside.
The note says GRATITUDE. Nice sentiment, but now what?
The note is the second part of the clue, the letters in the wall are the first part.
Two rows of four letters each, it's the same arrangement as the buttons on the drawer.
The note that says GRATITUDE is the clue as to which buttons to push in what order.
Picture the letters superimposed over the buttons, then click the buttons in the order it would take you to spell GRATITUDE.
Number the buttons from left to right in the top row as 1 through 4. Number the buttons in the bottom row from left to right as 5 through 8.
Push the buttons in this order: 5, 6, 4, 8, 1, 8, 7, 2, 3.
If you entered the code correctly you will hear a click. Click on the drawer to open it and take the large pink object.
Back up.
All that's left to solve is the right door, the one with the vertical 4 digit code.
Back up and turn right.
Look at that odd shelving unit to the left of the bathroom door. Click on it ONCE for a close up.
That odd left/right/left/right pattern the shelves are in looks familiar.
Perhaps that odd template we got from the other door?
Use the template on the shelving units while it is in this particular close up (don't get closer) and the gaps in the template help form numbers. Four numbers to be precise.
Back up and turn left.
Click on the table for a close up, then click on the right door to see the code lock.
Enter the four numbers you just got from the template/shelving unit clue.
9346.
Once you enter the correct code you will hear a click. Back up once and click on the right door to open it.
We now have a screwdriver! Yay!
Back up.
The Last Donut and the Safe
You know, there's still that high alcove in the wall above the pink table. Maybe there's a clue there?
But it's a bit high, we can't reach it.
Remember that odd pink thing we found in the top drawer?
Pull up that thing from your inventory. Once it is in close up click on it to unfold it and it becomes a stool.
Use the stool on the floor just below the red thing in the alcove.
Once the stool is in place, click on the red thing for a close up.
Looks like a strawberry shaped bowl. And there's the fourth and last donut! Take it and back up.
Turn left to face the outer door.
Click on the pink safe to the right of the door for a close up.
Place all four donuts in the holes on the safe door and click the center button. Once the action stops you can take the remote that drops out.
Back up.
The Lamp and The Remote
Turn left once to face the sofa.
Click on the cubbies in the back wall for a close up, then click on the lamp in the left cubby for a close up.
Now that you have the screwdriver, use it to remove the lamp.
Notice that the area where the lamp was is gray, and shaped just like that area in the wooden shelving units to the left of the bathroom door.
Back up and turn left.
Click on the wooden shelving units twice until you see that gray area, and plug the lamp in there.
Once the lamp is plugged in you will see a raised area in the wall just to the left of the units.
Looks like we need something to uncover that area.
Time to examine our inventory again.
Pull up the pen from your inventory (the one found in the plant) for a close up.
Once the pen is in close up click on the cap to take it off. It's not a pen, it's a knife!
Use the knife on the raised area on the wall to uncover a red button. Push the button and back up.
Now click on the bathroom door until you can see through to the bathroom.
Use the remote on the window and you will see some triangular symbols.
Back up and click on the panel to the right of the door for a close up.
Notice the buttons in this sunburst pattern have the same shapes as the ones you just saw in the bathroom door window.
The four shapes you saw in the window are the clues to which buttons to push.
Starting at the top (the 12:00 position), number the buttons clockwise from 1 to 8.
According to the pattern, you should push 3, 1, 6, and 5.
If you pushed the buttons in the correct order you should hear a click. Back up.
Click on the bathroom door for a close up, then click again to open it.
Click on the open doorway to enter the bathroom.
The Bathroom Exploration
You are now in a fantasy bathroom with a sunken tub in a raised platform. Also on the raised platform is a small table with what looks like wine and glasses. Click on the table for a close up.
To the left of the table is a small box, take it.
If you look at the box in close up you will see that it needs a three digit code and has the numbers 671 on it. Back up.
You can click on the tub, but it is empty and you can't turn on the water.
On the wall to the left is a curious panel, click on it for a close up.
Looks like we have another four symbol code here. Below the code buttons is a small 3 x 3 grid. Wonder where we've seen that before?
Okay, time to solve some puzzles.
The Bathroom Wall Puzzle
Well, the 3 x 3 grid underneath the code is a hint.
We've seen two different 3 x 3 grids in the room, the first was the rug by the sofa, the second was that small shelving unit with the cookies.
Both are clues to the puzzle.
First look at the 3 x 3 shelving unit with the cookies. There is one cookie in the bottom middle square, two cookies in the upper right square, three cookies in the left column middle square, and four cookies in the lower right square.
Look at the run beneath the sofa. Each of the 3 x 3 squares has a different shape in it.
The cookies in the first grid indicate which squares are important, and in what order.
In the rug the bottom middle square is a teardrop shape.
In the rug the upper right square has square shapes.
In the rug the left column middle square has triangles.
In the rug the lower right square has asterisks.
The code for the wall puzzle is teardrop, square, triangle, asterisk.
Click on the puzzle for a close up, then enter the code.
If you enter the code correctly the tub will start to fill up.
Wait for the water to stop running, then back up from the wall puzzle.
Click on the tub for a close up.
Floating in the water is another animal head, take it.
Notice that this one has the number 47 on the bottom.
Back up twice to leave the bathroom.
The Medal Platform Puzzle
Turn left once to face the pink table with the doors and drawers.
Click on the table for a close up, then click on the item on top of the table, the "medal platform" with the animal heads.
Note that each animal head has an equivalent somewhere in the room, and that the other animal heads had numbers.
The head in the number 1 position is the one from the red table that covered the number 6.
The head in the number 2 position is the one from the tub, and its number was 47.
The red head in the number 3 position is the same as the one in the alcove with the number 2.
Thus the code is 6472.
Click in the pink area below the medal platform to place a cursor. You must enter the code manually with your keyboard.
Once the code is entered click on the handle to open that little drawer and take the note.
Back up twice.
The Jacob's Ladder Puzzle
Examine the note you just received, it is a ladder puzzle with numbers at the top from 1 to 7.
The colors on the note are also yellow and white, the same as the box you got from the bathroom.
So perhaps the note is the clue for the three digit code on the box?
Look at a picture of the note. The way you play these puzzles is that you start at the top, then trace downwards until you hit a cross-section. Once you do, follow that until you hit a vertical line again and precede downwards.
Keep tracing across and down until you get to the bottom.
The trick is to start at the proper points. Those points are given to you on the box, 671.
Start at the 6 position on the note, and trace down and side to side until you reach the bottom.
Look closely at the shape within the yellow area of the note and you will see that it forms the number 5.
Repeat for the 7 position on the note (it will create a 1) and the 1 position on the note (it will create a 2).
Thus the code for the box is 512.
Once you've figured out the code, pull up the white box from your inventory.
Enter the code and you will hear a click.
Click on the top of the box to open it and take the pink key.
Getting Out
Once you solve the white box puzzle and take the pink key, you are almost out.
Turn until you are facing the door to the outside (plant on the left, pink safe and shelves to the right).
Click on the door for a close up.
Use the pink key on the door and you will hear a click.
Click on the door to open it and click again to escape.
Congratulations!
