The Latest Work of Dai Hyakka
Art is a pretty subjective thing, one person's masterpiece being another person's scribble. Fortunately, being an art lover, gamers are invited to the exclusive studio of a famous artist to view their latest work in The Latest Work of Dai Hyakka, a fun little room escape from no1game.net. Unfortunately once the player has arrived they cannot leave until they view this great masterpiece. Considering all of the puzzles (many color-based) that have to be solved to view this precious piece of art, it had better be worth it.
Exploration in this rustic studio is as easy as clicking the mouse. Click on items to examine them, to manipulate them, to take them (hey, the artist locked us in, his stuff is fair game!), and to move around the room using the handy arrows that appear at the edges of the screen. A changing cursor indicates places of interest and the inventory, while rudimentary, is easy to access. The Latest Work of Dai Hyakka is not a terribly difficult escape; seasoned players will probably be out in five to ten minutes. All that is required is some logical thinking and a modicum of art appreciation. Take a break and enjoy the art, even the picture of the giraffe which looks, quite frankly, seriously ticked off.

General Information
Pay close attention to the "art".

Exploration
You begin facing a wall with a painting. There is a table on the left and a two door cabinet on the right.
If you examine the painting, you will see that it is a chisel with an arrow pointing to a crown. Avant garde!
Click on the table for a close up.
There is a small picture on the table with color bands and an arrow. The colors are (from top to bottom): red, green, yellow, red, pink, yellow, and pink.
Click on the picture to move it and get a key. Back up.
Click on the top door of the cabinet to open it and take the chisel.
The bottom door of the cabinet is locked. Does the key work? Nope.
Turn right.
You are now facing a large stuffed bird in a glass jar. On the wall is a painting, click on it for a close up.
The picture is of a moon, a sun, and four stars. The stars are colored, from left to right: pink, green, red, and yellow.
Back up and turn right.
You are now facing the door out. It's not locked, but you don't want to leave until you've seen the great work of art.
On the wall to the right of the door is a wooden panel. Click on it for a close up and you will see that it is screwed. Looks like we need a screwdriver.
There is a small one door wooden cabinet to the right of the panel. If you click on it it will ask you for a number.
Turn right.
You are now facing an alcove. On the floor to the left is a moon piece, take it.
On the wall is another painting, click on it for a close up.
Looks like there's some pieces missing.
Back up twice. You are now facing a locked door, two more paintings, and a two door wooden cabinet.
Use the key on the cabinet to open it and take the sledge hammer.
Click on the left painting for a close up.
This is a painting with a strange shape and a crown. Back up.
Click on the right painting for a close up.
Geez, that giraffe looks pissed! Back up.
If you turn right you will be facing where you began, with the table, painting, and cabinet.
Time to solve some puzzles!
Opening the Panel
Turn right to face the strange stuffed bird.
Use the sledge hammer on the glass to remove it.
Once the bird is revealed notice the necklace around its neck. There's a square, a circle, a triangle, and a circle.
Beside the now freed bird is a screwdriver, take it.
Turn right to face the door out.
Click on the wall panel for a close up.
Use the screwdriver on the panel to open it.
Inside you will see a slot and a sun-shaped cut-out.
Looks like we need to find a sun.
Back up.
Opening the Number Code Cabinet
While we are still facing the out door, let's take a look at that single door cabinet that needs a number code.
Have we seen any numbers in the room?
No, but there are other clues.
Perhaps if we combine clues?
There are two clues for the number code: (1) the necklace on the stuffed bird and (2) the angry giraffe picture.
If you look at the necklace it gives the first clue, square, circle, triangle, circle.
Where have you seen those shapes?
On the giraffe picture, his markings are made up of squares, circles, and triangles.
Count the number of each marking. There are 7 squares (well, rectangles), 3 circles, and 6 triangles.
Therefore the code is 7363.
Enter the number code then click the "ok" button.
When the cabinet opens take the picture piece.
The Stuffed Bird
There are two clues to getting this item: The picture of the crown and chisel, and the strange picture with the crown on it next to the giraffe picture.
The first picture indicates that you need to use the chisel on the crown.
The second picture indicates the position of the crown on the stuffed bird. Look at the background of the picture, it indicates the left side of the bird, beneath the circle formed by the wing.
Click on the bird for a close up.
Use the chisel in the area below and to the right of the circle to open the bird.
Take the sun piece from the exposed cubby and back up.
The Panel Part 2
Turn right twice from the bird to face the out door and the wall panel.
Click on the panel for a close up and open it.
Place the sun piece in the sun-shaped slot and another will open up, this one shaped like a moon.
Place the moon piece in the left slot and more buttons will pop up, these with stars.
Looks like we need to solve another puzzle.
The Stars Puzzle
Looks like we need to figure out which star buttons to push and in which order.
Have we seen any clues with stars on them?
There was that one painting, the one with the sun, moon, and four colored stars.
It's a start, but how do we know the order?
The second clue is that small color-band picture on the table.
Remember the stars from the picture? From left to right they were: pink, green, red, and yellow.
Let's number them from left to right 1, 2, 3, and 4.
The color band picture had an arrow going from top to bottom and seven color bands: red, green, yellow, red, pink, yellow, and pink.
This indicates the order in which to push the stars, which have the same colors.
Therefore you need to push the star buttons in this order: 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 4, 1.
After you push the star buttons in the correct order, hit the "ok" button.
Yay, a gold key! Take the key and back up.
The Next Great Work of Art (Getting Out)
Turn left twice to face the table and two door cabinet.
Use the gold key on the locked bottom door of the cabinet.
Open the door and take the second picture piece.
Turn left to face the locked door, then click on the alcove (the space to the left of the two paintings).
Once in the alcove click on the painting on the back wall for a close up.
Place the two picture pieces in the painting and you will get a key. Take the key and back up twice.
Now use the key on the locked door.
Open the door and go inside to view the "masterpiece".
Congratulations, you are out!
