Threes: The Demake is a clever simplification of Asher Vollmer and Greg Wohlwend's iOS puzzle game Threes!. Created by Benjamin Davis, this demake contains the basic tile sliding/combining mechanics found in its big brother. The board is filled with white, red and blue tiles. Tapping the [arrow] keys lets you slide everything in that direction, smashing red/blue tiles and identical white tiles together to increase their face value, marked by darker blocks at the top. The goal is to keep combining tiles to create as many massive numbers as possible!
Instead of numbers and cute faces, Threes: The Demake is blocky pixel graphics with solid colors. It's still surprisingly faithful to the original, so if you're wondering what all the fuss over Threes! is about, let this be a bit of a teaser. And since it was made using PuzzleScript, you can dive in and hack the code yourself right from the website!
Why is this rated yellow?
It is rated yellow because it will drive some people going crazy not knowing what to do. It Needs Instructions. Could someone explain the game clearly and POST the rules here Please?????? 4/5. Actually, nearly ALL PuzzleScript games are 4/5. The Software Is Amazing!! LOVE The Concept!!
The actual Threes game is easier to understand, as there are animations and numbered tiles instead of chunky pixels. It's still a pretty simple concept, though.
Instructions for Threes: The Demake:
Use the [arrow] keys to shift the entire grid of blocks one square in any direction.
If there's an empty space, columns/rows of blocks that can slide there will. Otherwise they don't move.
If two white blocks with an identical number of gray squares on the top will collide as a result of a slide, they instead combine, increasing the gray squares by one.
The blue and red blocks can only combine with each other, forming a basic white block (it's a three block in the actual game).
The block floating on the left is the next block that will appear. Its spawn point depends on which direction you last shifted. For example, if you move the blocks to the left, the next piece will appear from the right.
Apparently, this game is for those who played “Threes!” on iOS and want to play it also on PC. Otherwise, the rules cannot be figured out, and even the title “Threes” does not make any sense.
Thank You!! I also do not know why this game is rated yellow. Could some one explain why?
It shouldn't be showing as yellow anymore. There was a tag error when it published, but now it's happy and green!
It seems to me the red and blue blocks only combine with each other some times... other times not. Can anyone explain the rules for them?
For anyone looking for a quicker tutorial, the animated gif on the Threes homepage shows the gameplay quite nicely. The demake can be confusing since there's no sliding animation and no numbers.

@baileydonk: Red/blue combine in the same way as identical white blocks. You have to make sure they're actually meeting, not just sliding parallel to each other.
This game makes absolutely no sense to me.
