It's the night before Christmas and we here at JayIsGames want to wish you merry merriment and festive festivities, whatever you might be doing. If you're here, though, that means you're playing more free online escape games. As well you should, being what a cold night it is in Yonashi's whimsical world. But, thanks to Flash512, Santa brought you a gift, and it's a nice gift, but only the most clever can get through the jolly one's test and leave with it. After that, help little Northan get into Jenny's house: she'll only let you in if you can solve all the puzzles because, well, that's what friends do for holiday fun...
One Cold Night - Yonashi brings all the charm and whimsy you could want for your Christmas fun in this mini escape. You're stuck inside, you want to get outside, which means following the changing cursor to find active spots and solving the riddles you encounter. You'll rely mostly on inference to figure out what you're supposed to do, yet the clues are more than abundant even if there's not a lot of explanation, besides magic for why things work as they do. Being on the easy side, all the enjoyment comes from the cuteness factor: which is ramped up to high along with plenty of holiday spirit.
Warm Christmas Room Escape - This is an older title by Flash512, not quite as polished and flashy as the author's newer titles, but it's perfect for the getting into the Christmas mood, with Santa Claus and a pretty tree all decked out with ornaments. There's a few instances where you might get hung up. One is if you forget that you must click, hold and drag items from your inventory to use on screen. Another is when you find yourself on a pixel hunt for important clue or items. Lastly, some clues seem like they could work on more than one lock, so you'll need to narrow it down. Otherwise, the solutions are straight-forward enough that you should be out the door, your loot in hand, well before Santa knows whether you've been naughty or nice.
Northan's Christmas 2014 - The simple graphics and unusual navigation might not grab your attention, but give it a few moments and you'll soon find yourself enjoying this little escape "into" the room from Shuinvy. It has more than its fair share of cheerfulness and personality to bring a smile. Once you're able to keep track of each scene, gathering useful tools (accessed via a click to open the "ITEM" box in the lower left corner) and solving the puzzles should be a snap. There's just enough thinking involved to keep you engaged, but it's light enough to complete with feet up by the fire, cup of cocoa in one hand, while singing your favorite carols.

One Cold Night walkthrough
Exploration, and gathering of some items
In the first scene, we see a stove. To open it, we'll need to solve a puzzle with three shapes and colours.
There's some strawberries (?) and a fish hanging to the left of the stove. We want that fish, but we can't get it yet.
There's a bucket of water with a key in it, but the water is frozen.
Turning right, we see a window. To open it, we'll need to solve a left-right puzzle.
There's a chest, but it needs a key.
There's a door, with a locked box on it.
In the bottom left, there's a table with some letter cookies. Clicking on the cookie box gets us a B cookie. If we look more closely at the B, and click it, it turns into two D COOKIES. Yay!
Look at that plate of cookies.
Those look like eyes, but the mouth is missing.
Put one of the D COOKIES on the plate to complete the smiley face.
Leaving the table scene and turning right again, we see a big smiley face and some firewood. If we click the firewood, we get a MATCH BOX.
There is a snowman. The branch that is the snowman's arm has some twigs going left and right.
Hey, that's probably the solution for the left-right puzzle.
Let's go back to the window and try: L R R L R R. Nope. Well, that was too good to be true.
Solving puzzles
Stove
If we look closely at the MATCH BOX, there's some coloured shapes there. A green triangle, red circle, and blue square. Where have we seen those shapes?
We can open the stove. For the colour-blind, click the circle twice to make it red. Click the triangle three times to make it green. Click the square once to make it blue.
There's already some wood in the stove. Let's light it with the MATCH BOX (hmm, those seem like dangerous matches if we can light the stove without even opening the box).
Lighting the stove has melted the water in the bucket. We can take the KEY.
If we go left, we can see that the snowman isn't looking too good in this heat ..
We can use the key on the chest.
There's a word missing a letter.
We can use our D LETTER.
There's a BOTTLE of purple liquid. Above the bottle, there's a picture of a flame and the word "Fire".
There's fire in the stove. Throw the bottle in the fire to get a nice explosion.
Aw, the explosion has also finished off the snowman. But look!
There are more twigs on the branch. L R R - L R R - R L L. Let's try the window again.
Nope. That doesn't work.
Let's let go of our top-to-bottom mentality, and try the reverse order
L L R - R R L - R R L
.
There's a KEY under one of the glasses.
Hmm, why are some of the glasses not standing upright? Let's remember that the first glass is upsidedown and the third glass is on its side.
We can get the FISH now with our new KEY. But there doesn't seem to be anything we can do with the fish.
Let's have another look at the cookie table. There's a squirrel eating the D cookie.
Click on the squirrel and get the KEY and the RIBBON. Look closely at the ribbon. It says MIZTER. Hmm.
Opening the door
We use the KEY on the box on the door and there's a new puzzle with a 6-letter word. Ew, it's the kind where we have to click a zillion times ...
We have a 6-letter sort-of-word, MIZTER. Let's try that. (Grumble, if only there were up-down buttons, it would be easy to get that Z.)
Nope, not surprisingly, MIZTER doesn't work. But wait, remember the glasses?
Turn the M upsidedown to get W and turn the Z over to get N.
WINTER. That's better.
Inside the second room
There's a present on the table. But we can't open it until we solve a shape puzzle.
There's a bear. Maybe it would like a fish. Yes indeed. Take the SHAPE he's offering.
We can place the shape in the puzzle that opens the present.
Now we have a new puzzle. Some shapes on the left, some letters on the right.
The bear is holding a sign that has a 90 degrees left image.
If we assume that it's the puzzle that's turned 90 degrees left, we can make another smiley face. Not a winky one, but a real smiley :D
It's a cake! Click on the cake ...
And we're outside.
There's the Christmas tree, bear, the squirrel, a rabbit, some deer, and there's the snowman. Yay, he didn't completely melt, he must have just left.
There's another present! And the real end scene.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
